Yarn Bases
At Woolly Goodness Yarns, I try to only use yarns that I personally enjoy working with. Here is a list and a brief description of the main bases I use in the shop. All of them are superwash unless otherwise noted, but I still advise hand washing in cool water and drying flat to preserve the yarn.
Merino Nylon Sock Yarn - A 75% Merino and 25% nylon sock yarn base, perfect for socks and next to the skin garments. This is the base used in my clubs for the mini skeins which are all hand wound to ensure that there are no imperfections!
Deluxe Merino Nylon Sock Yarn - An 85% Merino and 15% nylon sock yarn base, a little bit softer and smoother that the standard merino nylon. I use this for my sock sets and self striping yarns, and in the Advent Calendars.
Silver Sparkle Sock Yarn - This is my standard silver sparkle base. It is 70% merino, 25% nylon and 5% silver stellina. The yarn is incredibly soft and there is absolutely no prickle from the stellina. It is another perfect yarn for next to the skin. It is used in my sock sets, self striping yarns and in the clubs, where again all the minis are hand wound to make sure they're perfect.
Deluxe Sparkle sock Yarn - This one is a bit special, a 75% merino, 15% nylon and 10% silver stellina yarn which is very sparkly. I use this yarn for my Christmas colourways, for the mix and match minis, and in the Advent Calendars. There is 5% more merino in this base that the standard silver sparkle yarn, which makes it very soft, and an extra 5% stellina that makes it very sparkly indeed. It was introduced to the shop in 2021 and has become a firm favourite.
Gold Sparkle Sock Yarn - An 80% Merino, 15% nylon and 5% gold stellina sock yarn, which I just use at Christmas. It is the perfect yarn to add a festive twinkle to your knits. Once again, it is perfect for next to the skin and knits up beautifully.
